Baby Boomer Life Movies-the Classics.
One of the aspects of living the Baby Boomer Life that I particularly love is the variety, the options that we have created. Take the movies; now I am as fond of a hot Bruce Willis action film as any boomer gal because I love the movies. There are so many really good films and it is such a great escape.
I get a real kick out of stepping into someone else’s life for two hours and taking a leave of absence from mine. When I have time I go for the big screen but mostly its DVD’s at home-plus I like the comfort and convenience. Movies of all kinds work for me. Recently I saw The Fountain on DVD and The Peaceful Warrior. Two boomer movies if there ever were any!
Really though, I like action movies, dramas, romances, thrillers and spy movies but I love the old movies. They connect with me at my core. I thank the Creator that I was born in an era where we got to see those old movies growing up before they had become classics. Thats why they resonate so well with us is because they are part of our core.
Now I’m on this for a reason.
You won’t believe the great movie I saw the other night: it was Born Yesterday with Judy Holiday and the night before that I saw The Farmers Daughter with Loretta Young. Sound hokey? Well they were two very patriotic movies that made me long for another time in the history of American Life. There was much less party politics and alot more ” Bill of Rights” and I think it is a great way to educate our grandchildren when they come to visit or just relax and enjoy. Of course you may have to strap the grandkids in to get them to watch these but I don’t think so. Not if we sit with them and it’s time together. Just an idea I have. I’ll let you know how it works out
and you give me some comments too if you don’t mind.
By the way, I found a website recently called Buy Old Movies and the reviews are the best! Check it out if you are longing for some of the humor and values of a gentler time when we were blissfully innocent. It’s a good break from reality :-)) . Of course the site I have discovered is owned by another person who’s just living the baby boomer life.
