Is Fear Keeping Your Baby Boomer Life Stuck On “Safe”? (Paul Potts videos)

What a question, eh? So is it? Is fear or the need for approval keeping your Baby Boomer Life stuck on hold? stuck on safe? stuck in limitation? stuck on “nowhere to go from here that feels exciting or alive”?

Well, today I found a link to a blog that opened a window for me to the life of one cell phone salesman in a small town in England who has been walking around his entire life carrying a voice like Pavarotti’s but didn’t have the confidence to expose that voice until he got the courage to go on Britain’s version of American Idol called Britain’s Got Talent.

The man, Paul Potts, came out on stage as a humble, scraggly toothed, and even a bit frumpy, salesman type-which is what he is-and then he opened his mouth and the audience screamed. They literally leapt to their feet. Personally, I was immediately moved to tears, and the hair on my body stood up like I’d just witnessed a miracle. I watched every single video on You Tube of this man.

To me, this is God’s work for all the world to see. Paul Potts is my vision of the Power of God in each of us. I am going to go out today and buy at least one or two of Paul Potts’ recordings because this is the kind of “feel the fear and do it anyway” action I want to support in my life. We have all felt the fear of not believing that ‘little ole me’-we, are filled with The Divine. Then we watch something miraculous happen and realize that we are walking miracles and that the only thing we have to fear truly is fear itself and that those words that once inspired a nation can still inspire people of all ages today in our lives.

I believe that Paul Potts must have been scared to death, shaking in his shoes literally, as he walked out on the stage before Simon Cowell and the other judges (especially with Simon’s history!) and prepared to possibly humiliate himself on national TV. What a leap of faith he exhibited and the humility it took to risk being ridiculed speaks loudly to the inner voice that convinces us to play small in our lives rather than be larger than life and go for it!

Paul Potts life is changing and it’s all because he has taken the ultimate risk and inadvertently placed himself in the ranks of Luciano Pavarotti and Andreas Bocelli. That is the amazing possibility that occurs when one dares to dream and commits to one’s vision while trusting in the unknown.

The blog that I found this story on is actually one that I admire and I’d like to share it with you so I have posted it on my blogroll for you to check out anytime you are here. It is called the Swan Journal for Women and I really like it. I think many of you will enjoy it too. Lynn Shepherd, CFP, the author of Swan Journal for Women, is a highly accredited professional who has done a beautiful job of building her blog into a very helpful place where women can go for answers about money and the interests of mature women but she has also included inspiration in her theme. I think if you go to Lynn’s site and look around you will find lots of very appealing and useful information that is presented with an authority you can respect and trust. This is our vote of confidence from Baby Boomer Life!

Let’s break out of the molds that confine and restrain us from continuing to expand who we are and develop more of who we are for as long as we are on this earth. Like the universe we are unlimited and our potential only remains untapped if we choose to allow that. I think Paul Potts is a perfect example of what can be and how much is waiting for us that we have not even dared to envision. We set our own limitations and then life fulfills those limitations or the other side of the coin which is endless expansion even if we aren’t sure what that might be- Law of Attraction anyone? I can only speak for myself but I choose expansion and expansion equals LIFE without self imposed limitation!

Have a Blessed Day!
